RESIDENTS had a chance to meet their neighbours – all 500 of them – at a fun day in Mount Charles.

They turned out for the fun at Woodland Road Park on Friday.

Activities included a penalty shoot-out competition with Plymouth Argyle's community engagement team, face-painting, arts and crafts stalls and lots of games.

Organisers of the day were St Austell Parents' Forum and Mount Charles Residents' Association with support from Cornwall Neighbourhoods For Change.

Damien Richards, development health worker for the organisation set up to help neighbourhoods said: "It's a real testament to the hard work of the parents' forum and the Mount Charles Residents' Association. There were so many people who were really happy something like this was happening in their community.

"I think these events are important because it shows what the community can do when it comes together."

Future events are planned.

Anyone interested in more information can call Damien on 01209 310623.
