ST ISSEY school children and staff have been dressing up to raise money for charity.

The school council had a busy couple of weeks organising this term's fundraiser in aid of their nominated charities and during their weekly meetings they decided on a non-uniform day with the theme 'Book Characters'.

Not content with the money this would raise, they decided to add in a book bring and buy sale, cake sale and raffle.

The children then set about advertising, writing letters home and informing their classmates about the day.

The result saw many fantastic costumed characters arriving at school from Harry Potter, Friar Tuck, and Willy Wonka, to witches, pirates and superheroes – the school council even persuaded the staff to join in and dress up too.

A great day was had by all and the children raised over £160 for the school's chosen charities and they thanked everyone for their support.
