A WADEBRIDGE teenager has escaped with minor injuries after falling 12ft from a building.

Firefighters, police officers and paramedics were scrambled to Biddicks Court in St Austell at about 9.45pm on Monday night.

A fire service spokesman said: "One appliance from St Austell Fire Station successfully rescued a young man who had climbed onto the roof of a building and then fallen approximately 12ft." Police said a call had been received at 9.50pm alerting them to the plight of the teenager, thought to be 16.

"It appears he's climbed up a ladder, walked across the roof and then fallen off," a spokesman said. "It looks like he's simply lost his footing."

Paramedics found only superficial bruising and the youth was returned to his family in Wadebridge.

What was he doing walking on a roof at that time? Nothing good that's for sure so it was poetic justice of a sort.
