ARMY cadets from St Austell now have a new uniform, issued during a two-day training event at RAF St Mawgan.

The cadets were among more than 300 from all over Cornwall taking part, and also received the new MTP (Multi Terrain Pattern) clothing.

At the final parade Daniel Rowe, from St Blazey Platoon, was promoted to Cadet Company Serjeant-Major of Lucknow Company which covers the platoons of mid-Cornwall, and was presented with his CSM cane and badge of rank by the Commandant, Colonel Les Donnithorne.

The St Austell cadets meet every Monday at 7pm at the Cadet Centre in South Street under the command of Second Lieutenant Julian Tyson, assisted by Serjeant Instructor Paul Prescott.
