LAUNCESTON Tourist Information Centre is celebrating moving to new premises in the town by holding an official opening day tomorrow.

Staff and Launceston town councillors want to welcome everyone to the new location in the White Hart Arcade. The office will be open from 10am until 6.30pm to welcome visitors.

Malcolm Bell, the head of VisitCornwall, will conduct the official opening at 3pm. The open day will also include a book launch and signing, with specialist displays of local crafts. Light refreshments will be available.

The new premises have undergone a complete transformation, designed by Penny McMillan and implemented by the team at Launceston Town Council. The TIC has two full-wall height photos; one featuring Launceston Castle, the other the steam railway. A purpose-made retail area displays locally produced arts and crafts; an additional facility of a public access computer for visitors and residents has been installed. Maps, local interest books, and walking trails are on sale along with postcards, stamps, greetings cards, and souvenirs.

The leaflet area provides a wide range of information on all there is to see and do in Launceston, the Tamar Valley and surrounding areas of Cornwall and Devon.

Tickets for many of the Cornish festivals and shows can be purchased.
