St Blazey 2, Barnstaple 1

ST BLAZEY face a trip to Dorset and Sherborne Town in the second round of the FA Carlsberg Vase next month after coming from behind to beat Western League premier division Barnstaple on Saturday.

The Green & Blacks will be hopeful of making further progress in the competition at the expense of their Dorset hosts who play in division one of the Western League.

Bobby Oaten's men were made to work hard for Saturday's victory, especially after falling behind to a 20th minute goal.

But they were level on the half hour mark when the prolific Seb Broomfield cut in from the right before firing in from a tight angle.

And five minutes after the break St Blazey grabbed what turned out to be the winner when Lewis Edwards' cross fell to Martin Sleeman, who fired home.

FA Carlsberg Vase draw (round two), November 17: Sherborne Town v St Blazey, St Austell v Bemerton Heath Harlequins, Bodmin Town v Odd Down.
