PEOPLE across the country are celebrating the spectacular festival of lights – Diwali – this week and Newquay was no exception.

The five-day event is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs and Jains all over the world.

Children at First Steps nursery donned drawings on their arms which resembled henna tattoos and masks, while the Maharajah Indian Restaurant set off a firework display and lit sparklers.
