A YOUNG film-maker took centre stage at the 2012 Co-operative Film Festival when his talents were showcased on the silver screen at Manchester's AMC Cinema.
Owen Winter, from Tredrizzick near Wadebridge, saw his film The Best Job In The World screened and he also received a certificate at the two-day event.
His entry was one of 66 chosen from almost 200 submitted by young film-makers, schools, youth groups, arts groups, colleges and video workshops from across the UK and beyond, including films submitted from as far as Belgium, the Czech Republic and Estonia.
The 13-year-old Wadebridge School student has made dozens of short films over the past few years, and he wrote, directed and edited The Best Job In The World, which starred his friends Sam Every, Isaac Rowlands and Angus Jarvis, with Angus attending the Manchester screening with Owen.
He describes the film as a "mockumentary'' and is a comedy.
"The short film is about a man who believes he has the best job in the world but the actual job is only revealed to the audience at the end of the film, as a twist," explained Owen.
"It took a few weeks to put the film together but only took a couple of days of filming and around a day of editing.
"I would really like to become a film-maker of some sort in the future, although I am not sure of what speciality I would like most.
"I have an idea for the next film which is a zombie film but, as with most of my films, it isn't going to be your average zombie film. It will be based around a lonely zombie searching for a companion to join him in the undead state," he said.
Owen, who has made numerous short films in the past three years, and had the same film shown at the Cornwall Film Festival, said he got a lot out of his Manchester invite.
"I thought it was really exciting having been chosen to have my film screened at the festival because it was a great experience meeting other film-makers, attending workshops and, of course, seeing my film on the big screen, which was great
"I found it useful having experts critique my film and I think I have the potential to make massive improvements to future films as a result.''
