Do your Saturday shopping in Liskeard and park for just £1

CORNWALL Council is once again offering £1 all-day parking in Liskeard – and you can take advantage by displaying our cut-out voucher.

The authority usually charges £1 for two hours but motorists displaying the voucher on page 3 of this paper will automatically upgrade their two-hour ticket to cover the whole of Saturday.

It is hoped that the cheaper parking will help people shop locally.

Mayor Tony Powell told the Cornish Guardian when the trial was first carried out in August that the town council needed the public to visit the town and support the market.

He said: "Saltash has shown that a Saturday subsidised charging policy can have a positive effect and we believe the evidence we will gather will support this."

If this council claims to be democratic it would seriously consider handing out planning permission willy nilly to any supermarket that asks for it. while increasing parking charges in towns. That is a sure way to kiill off town centres. As a 10 year old could have told them the answer is to make the supermarket pay the expected town centre park revenue and let people park in the centre free. But the that's assuming planners have brains.
