THE 2013 Looe Raft Race, in aid of Looe RNLI, will take place on Sunday, June 2, at 1pm.
The fun will start from East Looe beach and travel up the river, under the first arch of the bridge, before turning back under the next arch and returning to the RNLI lifeboat station. For the more competitively orientated there will be a separate speed class.
The junior class (ages 8 to 16) will start at the little beach, by the lifeboat station, once the main adult competitors have passed, and follow the same course.
This is the fourth year of the event and numbers of both competitors and spectators have grown over the years.
Dave Peat, president of Looe Boat Owners' Association (LBOA), and members of the committee, are again organising the event and are seeking entries.
A spokesman said: "This will help in forward planning and enable the event to accommodate the rising number of people and rafts who enjoy this annual event."
Prizegiving will take place at 3pm at the lifeboat station.
Entry fees are £2.50 per person for juniors and £5 for adults. All proceeds will go to Looe RNLI. If there is sufficient interest there will also be a senior class (to run with the adult race). For further information and entry forms, call Dave Peat on 07747 488488 or Vicky Peat on 07747 488489 or Ann Watson on 01503 262265.
