ST ISSEY PRIMARY SCHOOL turned back the clock last week to experience life in Ancient Greece.
The upper Key Stage 2 class, lead by teacher Jessica Whittock, launched their spring topic by dressing in costumes of the period to learn more about the civilisation.
The children learnt about Greek cuisine by tasting authentic Greek food, as well as cooking a moussaka.
The children also participated in mini-Greek Olympic games and the winners were rewarded with the children's hand-made certificates, which were written in the Ancient Greek alphabet, also learnt on the day.
The children also explored the Greek gods by looking at sculptures and creating their own clay sculptures in the style of the period.
Miss Whittock said: "A great day was had by all and the children are now inspired and excited to find out more about the Ancient Greeks and to get stuck into their topic this term.''
