REPRESENTATIVES from a St Austell charity providing hot meals to the homeless and needy travelled to London to receive an award from the Prime Minister.
On Monday Kim Mathews and her husband David, Nick Cook and Adam Harris, from St Austell Community Kitchen (STAK), travelled to the capital to be presented with their accolade after winning David Cameron's Big Society Awards.
Earlier this year STAK, which has been feeding vulnerable and homeless people in Cornwall for more than 20 years, became the first Cornish recipient of the acknowledgement.
The STAK ambassadors joined 15 other groups representing winners for the current year at the Big Society party.
They said that despite tight security everybody was made to feel very welcome as they met ministers and Mr Cameron, who gave a speech telling the winners to "keep up the good work".
There will be a chance to see the award at STAK's open day at its base at High Cross Street this Saturday, from 10am to 4pm, to celebrate its third anniversary.
