NEWQUAY police have released a CCTV image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with a burglary at the resort.

A Dell laptop and digital camera were stolen from a property in East Street on February 25.

The man is described as white, in his mid-twenties, about 5ft 10in tall, slim, and he spoke with an eastern European accent.

He was wearing a bright blue Puffa jacket and had short, dark brown hair with a long fringe swept to one side, sharp features and was clean-shaven.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101, crime reference GN/13/395 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

The news comes as Newquay police continue to crack down on burglaries in the town following a spate since Christmas, particularly in the Pentire and Mount Wise areas.

In February alone there were 13 recorded burglaries at residential homes between February 1 and 24 and five at non-residential properties.

Inspector Dave Meredith stressed last week that both undercover and uniformed officers were continuing to work in the areas.

"I can assure people that Newquay police are doing everything possible to combat this," he said.

PC Alex Allen said basic precautions should always be taken to keep properties safe and secure as almost a third of burglaries were committed by opportunistic thieves. He said: "We urge people to keep all windows and doors locked and secure, even when at home in the garden."
