A LUCKY mum from Par had a day she will never forget after she was given a new car and reunited with her best friend from school.

Tania Watkins, a part-time student, travelled to Plymouth to pick up a Ford Fiesta, which she won after entering an IMO Car Wash competition online.

And if that wasn't enough to bring a smile to her face, while collecting her shiny new wheels she bumped into her old school friend Carla Burnard, who she hadn't seen in nearly 20 years.

"I couldn't believe it," the 34-year-old said. "I was picking up my prize from the IMO Car Wash in Plymouth when Carla appeared out of the blue. She was my best friend at school, but I haven't seen her since we both moved away from the area. What a fantastic day."

The pair both attended Poltair School but lost contact when they moved away in 1995.

Miss Burnard, who lives in Plymouth, spotted her old best friend as she drove past the car wash at Transit Way.

Thinking a new car would be a nice treat for her two children, six-year-old Aiden and two-year-old Cerys, Tania entered the contest and was amazed when she found out she had won.

"I don't usually enter competitions," she said.

"But when I came across this competition I thought I would go for it – I never expected to win."
