HAPPY Days in Newquay is flying high with excitement after a successful Olympic-themed fundraiser for the Cornwall air ambulance.

On Sunday the nursery held a fun-packed morning of sports and an Olympic breakfast for guests.

The events helped to raise more than £200. Newquay mayor Kevin Towill took part in the races alongside Swampy from Cornwall's Crealy Adventure Park.

Nursery manager Liz Bamsey said: "We felt that it would be fun to have a summer outdoor event while raising money for a great cause. We are all mindful of the amazing work the air ambulance does for the county and now seeing it is based at Newquay airport it is local to the nursery too.

"Lots of fun was had by all, including the mayor racing Swampy from Crealy and Ernie from St Eval Go Karts. There was a staff race, a mums' race, a dads' race and of course plenty of children's races.

"It would not have been possible to raise in excess of £200 had it not been for the support of our families and friends, the fabulous team at Newquay Happy Days and also local businesses who supplied amazing prizes for our raffle. Our huge thanks go to Yoshimis, The Fort, St Eval Go Karting, Lou Lou Nails, Newquay Zoo, Lappa Valley Railway, Crealy, Waterworld, Kingsley Village, Springfields, CallCo, Just Because Beauty and others. Thank you to everyone, especially my deputy manager, Emma Kirk. The event would not have taken place as it did without her hard work and determination."
