CHARITY music events held over the Past three years in memory of a Camelford woman have raised more than £40,000.

Music in the Market is held to raise money for the Camelford branch of HeartSWell, Cancer Research, Bude, and the Cornwall Air Ambulance.

They are held in memory of Helena Reynolds, known as Els, who died while on a shopping trip in 2010.

The next Music in the Market event is already being planned for the August Bank Holiday weekend after this year's entertainment attracted a total of 1,500 people and raised £14,481.

Music in the Market is organised by Rick Cobbledick, of Trelash, Warbstow.

The two-day event at Hallworthy Market takes the form of a cabaret on the Friday night and a pop music night on the Saturday.

The latest cheque was presented at the Wilsey Down Hotel in Hallworthy.

The committee members of the Camelford branch of HeartSWell said they were delighted to receive a third of the proceeds.

HeartSWell said they received £4,827 to continue their work with much-needed equipment in the cardiac wards at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth and Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro.

"The committee are extremely grateful to all who helped raise this total," they said.
