Motorist, 87, dies

AN ELDERLY man died after a road accident near Newquay on Monday, March 3.

Police are appealing for witnesses following the collision on the A3075 outside Hendra Croft Farm, Rejerrah, at about 1.26pm.

The 87-year-old driver, who has not been named, appeared to have suffered minor injuries and was conscious and talking at the scene, but due to "chest issues" he was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske.

The man died in hospital later that day.

A post-mortem examination is due to be conducted and the man's next-of-kin have been informed.

Any witnesses are asked to contact police quoting log 309 of March 3.
