Mayoral guests at band's big evening

PLAYER: Mayor David Gordon presents Sam Baker with the Eric Tiplady cup for Launceston Town Band's Junior Player of the Year.

MEMBERS of Launceston Town Band held their presentation evening in the Eagle House Hotel on Saturday week with guests of honour Launceston Mayor and Mayoress, David and Carol Gordon.

Trophies were presented to Sam Baker, Eric Tiplady cup for Junior Player of the year; Beth Avery, Conductor's baton for most improved junior; Colin Gay, Dobson's Cup for senior player contributing to band; Jeremy Taylor, musical director; Ann Brown, President's shield for bandsman of the year; and Jenny Barker, Ian Rattray trophy for most promising training band member.

Also to Nick Smith, chairman's shield for Players' Player; Gemma Brown, Plestin-Les-Greves for Junior attendance; Mary Manzi, John Ware shield for training band player of the year.
