A LORRY driver from Launceston was involved in a crash in East Devon on Christmas Eve in which a 59-year-old man was killed.

The emergency services were called to the accident on the A30 at Rawridge Hill, Honiton, at 11.35am.

Devon and Cornwall Police said a silver Ford Focus travelling towards Honiton had been in collision with a lorry which was heading towards Somerset. The driver of the Focus, who was from London but living with family in the local area, died of his injuries at the scene.

The driver of the MAN articulated lorry, a 50-year-old man from Launceston, who has not been named, suffered minor injuries.

Specialist crash investigators were brought in to examine the scene. The road was closed for ten hours while the crash site was surveyed and to enable the removal of the lorry which had left the road and ended up in steep woods.

Officers from the Exeter serious collisions investigation unit have appealed for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
