BODMIN based cyclist Scott Tomkinson has qualified to compete in the National Road Championships in Yorkshire this weekend.
It's a great achievement for the 28-year-old, who has only been cycling competitively for the past three years.
Tomkinson, who runs the Kernow Physio fitness studio in Nanstallon, said: "There will be 150 of the country's top riders at the race, including Team Sky members.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge. It is something I have never done before, so I don't really know what to expect. I qualified for the championships through my performances for Newquay Velo Cycling Club, but I've only been riding for three years."
The event is being hosted by Ampleforth Abbey, near York, from where at 9.15am the women take to the road for seven laps of a rolling 9.5 mile circuit.
After lunch the men take their turn with three laps of an 18.9 mile loop of picturesque villages and Abbeys before moving to the 9.5 mile circuit for six laps.
