Lanhydrock's Richard O'Hanlon was the top Cornish professional at the PGA West Region's Launceston Pro-Am on Monday.

He shot a level par round of 70 to finish in a tie for fourth place, three strokes behind winner Lee Thompson, of Dudsbury.

Altogether 15 Cornish professionals competed in the event on home soil, four of whom finished in the top dozen. As well as O'Hanlon, Dominic Rehaag (China Fleet) was joint sixth on 72, while Nick Rogers (Falmouth) and Richard Sadler (Killiow) tied for ninth place on 74.

St Mellion's James Ruth shot a level par 72 to finish in a share of sixth place in the rain-shortened Jamega Tour event at The Warwickshire last week.

The scheduled 36-hole event was reduced to 18 holes after heavy rain washed out the first day's play. More local golf news on Pages 104 and 109.
