A PRESENTATION to honour horticultural heroes in Fowey was a blooming success.

The annual Fowey In Bloom presentation on Saturday, November 2 at Fowey Parish Hall, celebrated the high numbers and standard of entries in this year's competition.

Chairman Barbara Orchard congratulated everyone and urged people to keep getting involved, before cups were presented to all the class winners by Mayor of Fowey, John Berryman, who attended the presentation with his wife, Maureen.

Top display to wow this year's judge George Kestell was The Dwelling House on Fore Street.

The bed and breakfast and tearooms was chosen for the Special Award for the Best Entry, for their lovely floral display despite being on the town's main thoroughfare.

Barbara was also presented with a basket of flowers and some wine after she was named Local Hero in the big sister version of the town's competition, Cornwall in Bloom awards.

Frances Day, from the committee, said: "All in all, (it was) a very successful afternoon."
