The family of a biker who died after colliding with a tree on the A3058 near Summercourt on Sunday said he will be “very sadly missed by all who knew him.”

Police today named the biker from St Columb as Christopher Cusworth.

The 56-year-old was riding a black Aprilia 1,000cc motorcycle when the crash happened at 2:20pm

He was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske, Truro, where he died of his injuries.

His family issued a tribute to police, saying: "Christopher Cusworth was a loving father, brother, grandfather and friend.

“In life, he was surrounded by the things he loved: his family, Jack Russells and motorbikes which were his passion.

“He will be very sadly missed by all who knew him.”

Police are appealing to anyone who may have seen the collision, the rider, or a group of three riders, immediately before the incident to contact them on 101.

Sergeant Jane Corkhill, of the Serious Collisions Investigation Unit, said: “We are very interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at the time, in particular driving along the B3275 or the A3058, who either witnessed the collision or saw an Aprilia motorcycle driving just prior to the incident.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police on 101, quoting log 498 of 09/03/14.
