POLICE community support officer Lloyd Paynter is leaving his job covering the rural villages around Bodmin to take up a similar position in Fowey and Golant.

PCSO Paynter will be remembered in particular for working with young people in the area, especially at Lanivet and St Breward where he has helped to set up successful youth projects with support from local businesses.

PCSO Paynter, who will shortly be based at St Blazey police station, said he had very much enjoyed working with people in the Bodmin area.

"I would like to thank all the business people and parishioners who have supported many of my projects over the past seven years. Without the support and commitment of people and the sponsorship from local businesses it would have been impossible to run any of the community projects which have frequently benefited young people,'' he said.

"During my tenure I have had the pleasure of working with some fantastic young people who I believe are going to be a real credit to their communities.

"Our police rural surgeries have also been a big success over the years, and will hopefully continue to offer people in the more remote areas a chance to visit their local officer.

"I will miss the regular visitors and characters,'' he said.
