Crime in St Austell fell by 8.6 per cent in January

THE NUMBER of reported crimes in St Austell fell by 8.6 per cent in January compared to the same month last year.

Sector inspector for St Austell Tony Joslin said: "We have seen a reduction in crime in the past month for the entire area of St Austell and St Blazey of 8.6 per cent."

Mr Joslin put the encouraging figures down to the hard work of his team, saying a spate in recent convictions of burglars and a continuing drive against drug dealers in the area has helped to reduce crime in the area.
