DESPITE the atrocious weather more than 2,000 people went to the National Trust's Cotehele House, near Saltash, last weekend for its annual Christmas food fair.

Emma Grainger, an administrator at the house, said: "We were amazed at how many people came. It was very damp but everybody seemed to enjoy it."

The fair hosted a range of produce form local suppliers including festive treats, cakes, sausages and puddings.

It also marked the first day Cotehele's 60ft flower garland was available to view by the public: "It really is very beautiful," Mrs Grainger said.
