THIS bevy of beauties are hoping to flesh out their fundraising – with a risqué calendar.
Twelve ladies and one gentleman agreed to bare almost all for a calendar with a pantomime theme to raise cash for their amateur dramatics group, the St Dennis Variety Company.
Although the actors are more used to stage lights than being starkers, they agreed to do the calendar shoot to give the variety company the boost it needs to keep on putting on its annual show.
Tracey Richards, secretary of the company, said they hope the calendar, which they posed, shot and produced themselves will catch residents' attention and cash.
"Although we hold bingo nights, discos and many other events we are always looking for new ways to raise money. We thought we have lots of ladies in the chorus and in the pantomime so why not?"
The calendar, which includes months featuring scenes from Dick Whittington, Aladdin and Babes In The Wood is being kept under wraps until it is launched later this month.
Mrs Richards, 47, said: "We had an absolute ball, it was one of the funniest things I have done in a long, long time.
"It's saucy but we are not naked. We need clothing to portray the pantomime theme.
"You see a bit of cleavage and bum but that's it. It's not page three stuff – at our ages it was never going to be page three."
While the only male model was full of bravado prior to the shoot, when it came to the day and his time in front of the lens with the female clan he was a "little nervous".
The calendar was shot over a couple of months on location including in the woods at Gullys Lane and upstairs at St Dennis Working Men's Club.
"We took all the photographs ourselves and then my firm Wernick Buildings allowed us to print the copies out at work."
St Dennis's calendar girls (and boy) will unveil the images on Friday, September 28, upstairs at the working men's club on Fore Street.
Mrs Richards added: "We will be putting on some routines but there will be no nakedness – we will try to entertain people and raise money for the company.
"There are always costumes to buy and equipment that needs updating. We had brilliant fun making the calendar and at the end of the day we hope to raise lots of money."
Entertainment and the calendar launch will start at 8pm. The calendar will be on sale on the night.
