Budding chefs turn up the heat

MASTER chefs in the making turned up the heat in the kitchen at Poltair School's annual cooking competition.

The event, which runs for three weeks, is open to all students from Year 7 to 11, the only rule being that students must team up with a member of staff from the same house as the student.

Lynsey Toms, teacher of design technology and co-organiser, said: "There seems to be a lot of excitement and friendly rivalry ensuing among the staff and the students, which is creating an air of enthusiasm around the school."

Heats will continue until the grand finale on February 12, with guest judges including Grant Mather, senior lecturer in catering at Cornwall College.
