AN AMATEUR dramatic group in Fowey has been selected to perform in the Royal Shakespeare Company's Open Stages project.

Troy Players will perform a 20-minute excerpt of Wyrd Sisters – a derivation from the Weird Sisters who feature in Shakespeare's MacBeth – at the Hall for Cornwall on June 20.

Troy Players' committee member Jules Jonklaas said the group was delighted with the opportunity and hoped for support at the event.

The group will perform a full production of the play, by Terry Pratchett and adapted by Stephen Briggs, during the Du Maurier Festival at Fowey Town Hall from May 14 to 18.

Performances at Fowey Town Hall in May start at 8pm.

Seats will be numbered; the group is urging people to get tickets early from either Bookends, in Fowey, or the tourist information office in St Austell.
