FORMAL identification of a body discovered at a woodland beauty spot in Truro had still not taken place as the Cornish Guardian went to press.
A walker made the discovery at about 9am last Saturday at Idless Woods, where missing Newquay man Peter Godber's silver Vauxhall Corsa had been found on September 14.
The 69-year-old was last seen on September 13 and is described by police as being at high risk. A police spokesman said on Wednesday that the body was expected to be formally identified this week although the process was taking longer than expected.
He said: "Officers are investigating the circumstances of this incident and will prepare a file for the coroner. There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances at this time. "Formal identification has not yet been carried out. Mr Godber's family have been made aware."
